Seven people killed in IS attack in Syria

Seven army troops and pro-government militia were killed on Friday in an Islamic State (IS) attack on military targets in Deir ez-Zor governorate in eastern Syria. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported this on Saturday.

The attack targeted military positions east of the T2 oil station in rural areas in the south of the governorate.

The center said the death toll from similar attacks this year is 594, including 44 IS militants, 385 soldiers and pro-government militia, and 165 civilians.

IS has lost key areas in Syria and its fighters are forced to wage guerrilla warfare in desert areas in the east of the country.
