Tatarstan resident extradited from Colombia to Russia on suspicion of IS membership

Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia for Tatarstan detained a resident of Naberezhnye Chelny who is suspected of taking part in hostilities at the side of Islamic State in Syria. This was reported by the press service of the FSB.

The man was on the federal and international wanted list. He was detained in Colombia under international cooperation procedures and, at the request of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, was extradited to Russia.

“The defendant took an active part in hostilities against the Syrian troops at the side of Islamic State. He committed sabotage and terrorist attacks in various regions of Syria,” the press service of the FSB notes.
