The Kremlin commented on the desire of the Taliban to participate in the SCO summits

The willingness of the Taliban (the movement is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities) to participate in the summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a topic that should be considered when preparing for the organization's next summit. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

“The decision is made by consensus, so this is a topic that should be considered in preparation for the next summit,” he said.

The Taliban ruling movement in Afghanistan has expressed its desire to participate in the next summit of the organization, which will be held in Kazakhstan. The Taliban also commended on some points of the SCO declaration adopted on Tuesday, namely those related to the Afghan theme.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Semyon Grigoriev commented on the situation in Afghanistan. He stated that the Taliban did not fulfill their promises given during the change of power.
