IS member extradited to Russia from Iraq

A member of the Islamic State (terrorist group banned in the Russian Federation) Leyla Gatagazheva was extradited to Russia from Iraq. She was provided the terrorists with weapons using her own money. This was announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.

The suspect will be delivered to Russia, accompanied by staff members of the Interpol NCB, Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation.

“In our country, she is accused of participating in the organization that, in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, is designated as a terrorist organization,” the statement published on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Media says.

The investigation team believes that Gatagazheva arrived in Syria in 2016 and voluntarily joined the IS. Using her own money, she provided the militants with weapons, washed and repaired their uniforms and cooked food, Volk noted.
